PSA RSSO IV-A Promotes Statistical Literacy and Data-Driven Community Development Through KomuniAksyon

LOS BAÑOS, LAGUNA — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office IV-A (RSSO IV-A), in partnership with the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), conducted KomuniAksyon: Building Blocks for a Better Future through the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) on 23 October 2026, as part of the celebration of the 37th National Statistics Month (NSM).

The activity brought together students, local government representatives, and other stakeholders for engaging discussions, interactive activities, and knowledge-sharing sessions on the importance of statistics and CBMS in supporting informed decision-making and addressing the needs of Filipino communities.

The activity also highlighted PSA official statistics, ways to access PSA data, the importance of data privacy, and career opportunities at the PSA. These discussions aimed to strengthen participants’ statistical literacy, promote responsible data use, and increase awareness of the value of official statistics in everyday life and community development.

KomuniAksyon emphasized that statistics go beyond numbers—they provide insights into community conditions, help identify development priorities, and guide evidence-based policies and programs. It also underscored the importance of collaboration among academic institutions, local government units, and other stakeholders in advancing inclusive and data-driven development.
