PSA IV-A Encourages Batangas Civil Registrars to Explore National ID Authentication Services

The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office IV-A (PSA RSSO IV-A) encouraged members of the League of Civil Registrars of Batangas Province (LCRBP) to explore the National ID Authentication Services (NIDAS) during their 3rd Quarter Meeting held on September 17, 2026, at NDN Resorts, Brgy. Aya, Talisay, Batangas. Registration Officer III Juliedin B. Nohay provided an overview of NIDAS, including its Tier 1 and Tier 2 services, the authentication process, and the requirements and procedures for institutions interested in becoming NIDAS relying parties.

Ms. Nohay emphasized the potential of NIDAS to strengthen identity verification in civil registry transactions involving the issuance and availing of civil registry documents.

By providing an authorized means of authenticating an individual’s identity through the National ID, NIDAS can serve as an added safeguard against identity-related risks, complement existing verification procedures, and support more secure and efficient delivery of civil registry services. Its potential integration into appropriate digital systems may also contribute to the ongoing digital transformation of local government services, particularly by enabling more seamless and reliable identity verification in digital transactions.

The presentation was followed by an open forum where the civil registrars raised questions and sought clarifications on the implementation and possible applications of NIDAS in their respective offices.

Among the concerns discussed were subscription fees, the duration of the subscription contract, and the proper use and protection of the Digital National ID.

The participants expressed interest in learning more about NIDAS, with two Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) requesting information materials to facilitate discussions with their respective information technology personnel and explore the possible integration of the service into their systems.
