Isinulat ng túbong Pampanga na si Oscar “Papa Osmubal” Balajadia ang diksiyonaryong kabilang sa mga pinakamakapal na diksiyonaryo ng Kapampangan.
Inilunsad ng Holy Angel University-Center for Kapampangan Studies (HAU-CKS), na kilala sa mga proyekto at pananaliksik na naglalayong pangalagaan at palakasin ang wika at kultura ng Kapampangan.
Kasalukuyang kinikilala ng Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino ang aklat bilang pinakamakapal na aklat sa wikang Kapampangan sa bansa na may kabuoang 2,852 pahina.
Inaasahang magsisilbi itong mahalagang sanggunian sa mga mananaliksik, guro, mag-aaral, at iba pang nagnanais na higit pang maunawaan ang ugnayan ng wikang Kapampangan at mga salitang may pinagmulan sa wikang Tsino.

A total of 966 residents from Brgy. Hugo Perez, Trece Martires City, particularly in Golden Horizon, benefited from a Medical and Dental Mission conducted by the Provincial Government of Cavite on March 17, bringing vital healthcare services directly to the community.

Life began in water, and through water it is sustained. On World Water Day, Philippine Movement for Climate Justice (PMCJ) sees the country’s water crisis beyond scarcity. It is a systematic failure driven by corporate greed and the privatization of a basic human right.
Earlier this year, the United Nations (UN) declared a global “water bankruptcy. Many natural water sources have been depleted or are losing more water than they can realistically replenish. As a result, billions of people remain insecure, pointing to an uneven and unjust system of water allocation.
The same report exposed that over 70% of the world’s major aquifers, or underground water reservoirs, are rapidly depleting due to excessive extraction, leading to land subsidence, or the sinking of land. In the Philippines, this bankruptcy is the direct result of an exploitative system that prioritizes industrial profit over survival of millions. According to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), 40 million Filipinos still lack access to clean, potable water.
The crisis is most visible in the literal sinking of the nation’s capital region and the surrounding area. According to a study, Bulacan is sinking by as much as 109 mm per year — the highest in the country — due to massive and unregulated groundwater extraction, land use, and destruction of mangroves. This reveals the true reason why these areas are now easily flooded even in light rain, aside from corruption in the flood control projects and poorly planned drainage systems. Research from UP recording subsidence rates confirms that industrial land use is one of the primary drivers of this collapse. Land used by industries that use huge amounts of water and are likely extracting large volumes from underground aquifers is found to be sinking faster.
Freshwater sources are also rich in resources that many communities rely on for livelihood and food. Laguna Lake, for example, is the largest inland water body in the country. According to a case study from the National Academy of Science and Technology, the lake supplies water to parts of Metro Manila and is the source of affordable animal protein in the surrounding regions. Despite this, fish catch has reportedly declined over the years, partly due to industrialization and resulting pollution. Add to this the Laguna Lakeshore Road Network (LLRN) that is expected to destroy the lake’s shoreline, even as residents expressed resistance to the project.
Though the transition to cleaner sources of energy should be the top priority in the fight against the climate crisis, even this—without thorough examination of effects—can contribute to the water crisis. A floating solar project is currently underway in Laguna Lake, despite opposition calls from local fisherfolk. If developments to speed up the country’s independence from fossil fuels are not inclusive of the rights of the people, the efforts made are useless and counterproductive to any effort to counter the climate crisis.
PMCJ believes in a just transition away from fossil fuels and the greed that drives it, and calls for an overhaul of the system that allowed the problems presented to worsen to the level we face today. It is clear that, if left unchecked, the capitalist desire for more profit will soon drain the country of freshwater and sink our cities and homes. True water security can only be achieved by shifting to a sustainable system of water and land use that prioritizes people over profit and ends the privatization of our most vital resource.
On March 18, a successful livelihood training on meat processing was conducted by the Office of the Provincial Cooperatives Development Officer (OPCDO) – Livelihood Division in Brgy. Kaingen, Kawit, benefiting a total of 30 participants composed of mothers from the community. The activity aimed to equip participants with practical skills that can serve as an additional source of income and help improve their families’ economic stability.
The program formally opened with welcome remarks delivered by Punong Barangay Ernesto Solis Jr., who expressed his full support and gratitude for the initiatives rendered to empower women and strengthen household livelihoods in their community. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and community participation in building a more resilient barangay.
Following the opening message, Ms. Sheryl H. Loyola, OPCDO Livelihood Division head, provided an overview of the OPCDO programs and services. She highlighted the various opportunities available for community members, to access skills training, livelihood assistance, and other support services designed to promote sustainable development.
The meat processing training served as a hands-on learning session where participants were introduced to proper food handling, preparation techniques, and basic business concepts related to processed meat products. The activity not only enhanced their technical knowledge but also inspired them to explore small-scale entrepreneurial ventures.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the initiative, noting that such programs provide them with valuable skills and renewed confidence to contribute to their household income. The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) have strengthened their partnership to modernize systems, prevent fraudulent claims, and ensure benefits reach every Filipino, with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) co-location and the launch of the Philhealth Check Utility (PCU), March 26.
“Filipinos deserve a health insurance system that is modern, secure, and reliable,” said Philhealth President and CEO Dr. Edwin M. Mercado. “Through our partnership with the PSA, we are strengthening our systems, improving the accuracy of our records, and ensuring that every peso of the health supports legitimate claims and reaches every Filipino.”
He added that while safeguards are strengthened, access to benefits remains fully protected. “As we clean and modernize our systems, we remain committed to ensuring that no eligible member is denied service. Our priority is to deliver services that are both secure and accessible for all,” he said.
Through the co-location initiative, PhilSys registration is available directly at selected PhilHealth offices, allowing members to register for their National ID while accessing PhilHealth services.
The PCU integrates PhilSys data to verify identities in real time, perform biometric liveness checks, and match records for accuracy, ensuring that only valid claims are processed. The system is fully integrated into key programs, including the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) and the GAMOT benefit availment process, streamlining the patient journey from consultation to medicine access.
These initiatives mark a significant step in PhilHealth’s digital transformation and modernization efforts, aligned with the Universal Health Care Act. By strengthening identity verification, improving data integrity, and streamlining processes, PhilHealth and PSA reaffirm their commitment to a more accountable, efficient, and people-centered health system for all Filipinos.

The Province of Cavite successfully hosted the 2026 Regional Women’s Month Celebration on March 25, 2026, at the New Provincial Government Center in Trece Martires City, gathering key stakeholders and advocates from across the CALABARZON region in support of gender equality and inclusive development.
With the theme “WE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society” and sub-theme “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”, the event highlighted the vital role of women as leaders and partners in nation-building. The celebration was led by the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) and hosted by the Provincial Government of Cavite.
The program opened with welcome messages from Trece Martires City Mayor Gemma B. Lubigan and Provincial Administrator Gilbert V. Gandia, who represented Governor Abeng Remulla. Both officials emphasized the importance of empowering women and strengthening gender-responsive governance at all levels.
Inspirational messages were delivered by Hon. Atty. Ma. Charis Kay S. Ilagan-Conde, 1st District Board Member of the Province of Rizal, who underscored the need to honor the vital role of women in society, and by Dir. Carmel P. Matabang, Co-Chairperson of the Regional GAD Committee, who reaffirmed the region’s commitment to advancing gender and development initiatives.
Dr. Carlos P. Buasen, Regional Director of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples Region IV-A, delivered the keynote message, emphasizing women as enabling partners in development and highlighting their contributions to inclusive progress, particularly in indigenous communities.
The celebration also featured a cultural performance by Cavite State University (CvSU), showcasing the rich heritage and talents of Filipinas. A talk show titled “Modern-Day Babaylans: Filipinas Who Lead with Purpose” brought together distinguished panelists, including AProf. Thea Maries P. Perez of the CvSU GAD Resource Pool and PSSg Florenda C. Asotigue, Human Rights and Custodial Officer of the Bacoor Component City Police Station. The panel discussion explored leadership, empowerment, and the evolving role of women in contemporary society, followed by an engaging open forum.
A musical performance further enlivened the program, while one of the highlights of the event was the Turn-Over Ceremony of the 2027 Regional Women’s Month Celebration hosting duties from the Province of Cavite to Quezon Province, symbolizing continued regional collaboration.
In her closing remarks, Ms. Josephine C. Parilla, Chairperson of the Regional GAD Committee, expressed gratitude to all partners and participants and reiterated the importance of sustaining efforts toward gender equality and inclusive development.
The event was attended by representatives from the Provinces of Rizal and Quezon; City and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers; GAD Focal Persons from various local government units in Cavite; members of the RGADC; representatives from the academe in CALABARZON; the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) IV-A; Cavite Local Council for Women; MOVE-Cavite; department and unit heads of the Provincial Government of Cavite; and GFPS Council members.
In line with the celebration, various services were made available to participants, including legal consultation, assistance from the Philippine Statistics Authority, and PAG-IBIG Fund services. Health and wellness services under “Serbisyo Para kay Juana” were also provided, such as breast screening, visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), HIV testing, counseling, provision of contraceptives, and distribution of hygiene kits.

Magkakaisa ang Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) at isang eksperto sa buwis sa pagsusulong ng Pilipinas bilang “Investment Hub” ng mundo.
Sa ginanap na Pandesal Forum si Wilson Lee Flores moderator sa Kamuning Bakery Café, binigyang-diin ang paglulunsad ng 2026 Philippine Investment Mission at ang Book Premiere ng ‘CREATE MORE Edition’.
Si Director General Tereso “Teo” Panga, ng Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) ay kilala bilang napaka-makabuluhang pinuno ng PEZA mula nang siya ay itinalaga noong Marso 23, 2023 bilang kauna-unahang home-grown na Director General ng PEZA.
Sinabi ni Panga na siya ay nagtatrabaho sa PEZA ng halos 29 na taon na.
“Kami ay isang ahensya sa pagtataguyod ng pamumuhunan. Pinamamahalaan namin ang higit sa 400, eksaktong 436 na kumpanya, na may higit sa 400,000 empleyado, karamihan sa kanila ay mga tagaluwas na nandito pa rin ng mahigit 10 o 20 taon,” sabi ni Panga.
“Hindi kami kumukuha ng badyet mula sa GAA (General Appropriations Act). Kami ay self-sustaining. Kabilang kami sa ‘Billionaires Club’ ng gobyerno. Sa katunayan, kami ay nagbabayad ng humigit-kumulang P1 Bilyon at noong nakaraang taon, nagbayad kami ng P4 Bilyon sa pambansang pamahalaan,” dagdag pa niya. “Isipin ang kontribusyon ng aming mga locators na nasa humigit-kumulang 1.4 milyong di-tuwirang trabaho, na posibleng nailipat sa mga export processing zones,” sabi ni Panga.
Ang PEZA ay binanggit ng World Bank para sa kanyang momentum ng paglago at mga prayoridad sa pamumuhunan.
“Wala tayong iba kundi ang Pangulo (Pangulo Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr.) na isinusulong ang ating mga export processing zones,” sabi ni Panga.
Sa panahon ni Pangulong Benigno “Noynoy” C. Aquino (2010-2016), nakakamit ng PEZA ang P300 Bilyon sa mga pamumuhunan.
“Nagsasagawa kami ng mga hakbang upang mabawasan ang epekto ng krisis sa Gitnang Silangan. Sa Cavite, kung saan matatagpuan ang karamihan sa aming mga ecozone, nakikipagtulungan kami sa BOC (Bureau of Customs) upang magkaroon ng ‘seamless’ na operasyon na 24/7,” sabi ni Panga.
“Ngayon ay ipinopromote natin ang pagrerecycle dahil ito ay isa sa mga layunin ng SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) ng UN (United Nations).
Para naman kay Mon Abrea, Tagapagtatag at Punong Tagapayo sa Buwis ng Asian Consulting Group, na kilala rin bilang “Tax Prince of the Philippines”, sinabi na sa kabila ng mga problema at hamon na hinaharap ng bansa, nananatiling lubos ang pag-asa ng bansa para sa mga positibong pangyayari.
Binigyang-diin ni Abrea na ang PEZA ay dapat na maging “gold standard” ng mabuting pamamahala. “Sa kabila ng mga hamon, may mga lumalaking oportunidad pa rin para sa Pilipinas. Hindi lang kami nandito upang kumbinsihin ang mga mamumuhunan, kundi upang ayusin ang sistema,” sabi ni Abrea.

Ang makasaysayang “Seremonya ng Paglilibing” na ito, na nasaksihan ng libu-libong deboto at mga lider ng komunidad, ay lumalampas sa isang tradisyonal na pagdiriwang ng relihiyon. Ito ay isang malakas na pagdiriwang ng buong buhay na dedikasyon ng Master sa mga Pilipino, nagbibigay-pugay sa kanyang nagpabago na pamana, na malalim na nakaugat sa lipunan ng bansa sa pamamagitan ng pagiging nangunguna sa edukasyon, masiglang pagpapaunlad ng kultura, at pagtataguyod ng mga pandaigdigang halaga.

Ang kanyang pananaw ang nagpasimula ng iba’t ibang pamana, kapansin-pansin sa pamamagitan ng pagtatatag ng Guang Ming College Tagaytay at ng Guang Ming Institute sa Cebu. Ang mga institusyong ito ay naging ilaw ng oportunidad, nag-aalok ng buong scholarship upang alagaan ang mga henerasyon ng mga kabataang Pilipinong artista, edukador, at propesyonal, na nagbibigay-kapangyarihan sa kanila na makapag-ambag nang makabuluhan sa lipunan.
Isang pundasyon ng kanyang kontribusyon ang pambihirang “Tatlong Gawa ng Kabutihan” (Gumawa ng Mabuti, Magsalita ng Mabuti, Mag-isip ng Mabuti) na Proyekto ng mga Paaralan, na ipinatupad sa pakikipagtulungan sa Kagawaran ng Edukasyon sa Pilipinas. Ang pambansang programang ito ay naging mahalaga sa pagpapalakas ng pundasyon ng Values Education at Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC), na nagbibigay ng praktikal na balangkas ng etika para sa milyun-milyong estudyante. Sa larangan ng kultural na diplomasya, ang suporta ng Kagalang-galang na Master ang nagresulta sa kahanga-hangang Siddhartha Musical.
Sa pandaigdigang produksyong ito, na ipinalabas nang mahigit 200 beses sa iba’t ibang kontinente, ay nagpakita ng pambihirang talento ng mga Pilipinong artista sa pandaigdigang entablado, na nagbago ng isang kuwento ng Budismo sa isang nagkakaisang kultural na yaman.
Higit pa sa edukasyon at sining, umuunlad ang kanyang pamana sa pamamagitan ng malawakang kawanggawa, kabilang ang mga donasyon ng kagamitang medikal, pagbibigay ng regalo, at pagtulong sa kalamidad, pati na rin ang matatag na interfaith na mga inisyatiba na nagtatayo ng mga tulay ng pag-unawa at nagtataguyod ng pangmatagalang pagkakaisa sa lipunan. Ang Guang Ming na kaakibat na elementarya at mataas na paaralan ay higit pang nagpapalawak ng pangakong ito sa holistikong pagpapaunlad ng kabataan.
Ang solemne na seremonya ngayon, na minarkahan ng sagradong pag-awit at maringal na prusisyon, ay sa huli ay isang pagdiriwang ng buhay at pangmatagalang epekto. Tinitiyak ng paglilibing ng mga relikya ni Kagalang-galang na Master Hsing Yun na ang kanyang gabay na ilaw ng karunungan, pagkahabag, at proaktibong kabutihan ay patuloy na magbibigay-liwanag sa puso at isip ng Pilipino, na magbibigay inspirasyon sa isang pamana ng kapayapaan at pag-unlad para sa mga susunod na henerasyon.
Tulad ng sinabi ng Head Abbess ng FGS Philippines, Venerable Yung Guang sa seremonya, “Ang paglilibing ng mga relikya ni Master Hsing Yun ay isang testamento sa kanyang walang hanggang espiritu at pagmamahal para sa Pilipinas. Ito ay nagpapatuloy sa kanyang misyon na magbigay ng inspirasyon sa lahat na mamuhay ng may kabutihan, karunungan, at pagkahabag.”
Ang Fo Guang Shan Philippines, na may pangunahing tanggapan sa 656 Pablo Ocampo St., Malate, Manila, Tel. No. 85599540, ay isang nangungunang Buddhist humanitarian organization na itinatag sa ilalim ng pananaw ni Kagalang-galang na Master Hsing Yun.
Ito ay nakatuon sa apat na pangunahing haligi ng pagpapalaganap ng Humanistic Buddhism: kultura, edukasyon, kawanggawa, at espirituwal na pagsasanay, na may malalim na pangako sa paglilingkod sa lipunang Pilipino at pagtataguyod ng interfaith harmony.

Pinagtuonan ng pansin ang pagpapalakas ng mga programang pangwika, lalo na ang pagpapaunlad ng Filipino sa konteksto ng Kapampangan Studies. Ibinahagi rin ni Dr. Mendillo ang konsepto ng Sentro ng Wika at Kultura (SWK) na maaaring itatag sa AUF, bilang katuwang na sentro ng KWF para sa mga inisyatibang pangwika at pangkulturang nakatuon sa wikang Kapampangan.
Kasama rin sa bahagi ng AUF sina Dr. Archimedes David, Direktor ng Christian Formation and Praxis; Dr. Ariel Gutierrez, Tagapag-ugnay ng MAPEH sa AUF Integrated School; Dr. Christiandon Aviado, Pangalawang Dekano ng Kolehiyo ng Edukasyon; at G. Matagumpay na naisagawa ang Civil Registration Service (CRS) Mobile Outlet noong ika-18 ng Marso 2026 sa Bayan ng Sta. Teresita, Batangas, na nagbigay ng mas maginhawang access sa mahahalagang serbisyong sibil para sa mga mamamayan.
Sa pamamagitan ng isang araw na serbisyong ito, nabigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga kliyente na makapag-request at makakuha ng mga sertipikadong kopya ng mahahalagang dokumento tulad ng birth certificate, marriage certificate, death certificate, certificate of no marriage at certificate of no death nang hindi na kinakailangang bumiyahe patungo sa malalayong tanggapan ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). Layunin ng inisyatibong ito na mapagaan ang pasanin ng mga residente, lalo na yaong mula sa malalayong barangay, mga senior citizen, at mga may limitadong kakayahang makagalaw.

Sa isang Press Conference na napanuod ng live sa Facebook page ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) noong ika-13 ng Marso 2026, inulat ni PSA Assistant Secretary, Divina Gracia L. Del Prado ang Labor and Employment Statistics base sa paunang resulta ng Enero 2026 Labor Force Survey.
Ang pagkalap ng datos para sa Enero 2026 Labor Force Survey ay isinagawa sa loob ng 20 araw, mula ika-9 hanggang ika-31 ng Enero, ngayong taon.
Nasa 176,471 ang total sample sa buong bansa nitong Enero 2026.
CALABARZON – Sa populasyon ng 15 taong gulang pataas, ang bilang ng nasa labor force o mga indibidwal na employed at unemployed sa rehiyon ay nasa 7.97 Milyon. Ito ay mas mataas kaysa noong Oktubre 2025 na nasa 7.81 Milyon.
Naitala ang bilang ng mga employed persons o populasyon na may trabaho o negosyo sa rehiyon ngayong Enero 2026 na nasa 7.46 Milyon (o 93.6 percent employment rate) mas mataas kaysa noong Octubre 2025 na nasa 7.31 Milyon.
Sa kabilang dako, bahagyang tumaas ang bilang ng unemployed o populasyon na walang trabaho o negosyo ngayong Enero 2026 sa rehiyon na tinatayang nasa 510 libong populasyon (o 6.4 percent) kumpara sa 500 libong populasyon na naitala noong Oktubre 2025.
Ang bilang ng underemployed persons, o bilang ng may trabaho na nagpahayag ng pagnanais na magkaroon ng karagdagang oras ng trabaho, o magkaroon ng karagdagang trabaho, o magkaroon ng trabaho ng mas maraming oras ay bumaba nitong Enero 2026 sa rehiyon na naitala sa 835 libo (o 11.2 percent) kumpara noong Oktubre 2025 na nasa 773 libo na katao.
Sa kabuuan sa bansa, sa populasyon ng 15 taong gulang pataas, ang bilang ng nasa labor force ay umabot sa 50.89 Milyon.
Ang bilang ng may trabaho o negosyo sa bansa ngayong Enero 2026 ay tinatayang nasa 47.94 Milyon o 94.2 percent mas mababa kaysa noong Octubre 2025 na 95.0 percent. Tumaas ang bilang ng underemployed persons sa bansa na nasa 6.35 Milyon o 13.2 percent ng populasyon na nasa labor force.
